Chickens or Guinea Hens...

I really want some fowl in my new (soon to be built) vegetable garden area. I was reading in my Organic Gardening magazine and there was a suggestion to get Guinea Hens (fowl), as they are quieter and don't squirt out huge poo the way chickens do. They like to nest in trees and eat bugs...

However, there's something so classic about hens and roosters. I've always wanted a Rhode Island Red or a little Bantam Rooster, strutting about, running the roost, making his presence known. This could pose a problem with neighbors, which is why the Guineas are catching my attention!

I have found guinea fowl to be noisier than chickens. Check out my video of the female guinea fowl call on my site to hear what noisy critters they really are! Although they are noisy they are great fun to watch and they certainly like to eat the insects in my veg garden. They also lay everyday if you can find the eggs!

If guinea fowl nest in trees, wouldn't they just as easily nest in your neighbors trees? Soon, I predict, they will be at my home, roosting in my pear tree. I will need to shoo them back with a guinea stick. Just thinking of all that shooing makes me tired.

Ah-ha...Carnivorous Hippy. You forget that I plan ahead. I will clip the wings of the little whipper-snappers so that their ability to leave the fenced area would be defeated!

I checked out "admin's" website...farmingfriends.com. It's really cool. I learned about Guinea Fowl, how to mount a new wheel on a tractor, birthin' calves, and basically living off the land.
Too bad I don't know who "admin" is.

I am guessing that admin is everyone at the farm, and Sara is who wrote to you. Maybe Sara is admin.

We had bantum chickens, and ate their eggs but couldn't find them all, and our little flock grew to too many, so Dad sold them to the neighbors for a quarter each, and then gave them 2 free for each one they bought, until we only had a rooster, Charlie, who was gorgeous but didn't like my brother and visa versa. He disappeared one day. You called

I think you shouldn't go around mounting wheels... people might find you strange.
