My Last Evening of Freedom...

Tomorrow I head back to work. I know, I know...lots of folks have to do this, too, but I'm sad that my "summer" is over. I think it's hitting me even harder now, knowing that my daughter will be a senior this year...and will be gone most of next summer in Europe. Plus, my son is going to be a sophomore and time is flying by so fast.

Hubby and I loaded up all our dogs in the back of the truck and went out to Peavy Arboretum. We hiked a few miles, with Theo the WonderHound in-tow. He didn't stop once; just set a pace and kept his short little, fat legs truckin'.
When we made it to the lake, we watched a little bat that flew around us for about 20 minutes, catching insects. The dogs were swimming and the sun set as we were there. It was completely quiet and very beautiful. As we hiked back down to the truck, I kept thinking a cougar would silently capture Theo and eat him before we even knew what was happening, so I walked quite slowly with the 99-pound Basset.
What a nice way to end my vacation...

It's so hard watching your kids grow up...

Theo! I should steal that picture someday and say it's me going for a walk!
